After a tree of any size has been cut down its stump can only be cut close to the soil level without damaging the chainsaw. This leaves an unsightly stump in the ground that cannot be easily removed. If the stump is on commercial or domestic ground it can often become a eyesore taking up valuable space and prevents any turf, flower bed or driveway from being put in its place. This is where the stump should be removed.

Using excavating plant which can cause a lot of damage to the surrounding area and leaving a large hole in the ground is sometimes not the best method of removal. We use a hand operated grinding machine that can fit through most normal garden gates and entrances to grind the stump back to beneath the ground level.

This machine uses an engine powering a hardened cutting head that sweeps from side to side over the stump grinding it to a very fine sawdust like pulp which can be used a mulch or compost. Because the grinding head is controlled very little ground damaged is caused, leaving a hole up to 12 inches below ground level which can then be filled with soil and re-seeded.
